MotoGP gets its own TV Series

If in your spare time away from the world of motorbikes you like watching the four-wheel F1 and just so happen to enjoy ‘Drive to Survive’, you’re in luck.

Amazon Prime Video has commissioned a MotoGP ‘docuseries’ planned to launch in 2022. Similar to the multi-series F1 show, this series will offer eight 50-minute episodes of behind the scenes actions covering both the MotoGP teams and riders – motorcycle track racing at its finest.

The best bit about starting the series this year is we get to experience the phenomenal Yamaha triple win from the paddock, the win of new champ Fabio Quartararo and a special insight into MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi’s last ever season as a racer.

Similar to ‘Drive to Survive’ the cameras will be following all aspects of MotoGP. We’ll get an inside look on the riders, their teams, and the team managers both on and off the track, including the training sessions, pit lane boxes and even some personal life highlights. And what a season to start on!

The series is filmed by MediaPro Studio who have produced other docuseries for Amazon Prime Video including ‘All or Nothing: Manchester City’, ‘Fernando’ and ‘Six Dreams’.

Dorna, the exclusive commercial and TV rights holder for MotoGP and other motorcycle racing championships allowed MediaPro a most-access pass to the 2021 season. Manel Arroyo, the Dorna Chief Commercial Officer said:

“Throughout this intense season, that we ended the past weekend in Valencia, the work between Dorna and the Mediapro Studios has been constant with the idea of extracting the best and most outstanding moments of each Grand Prix of the calendar.

The support provided by the six manufacturers, the teams and the pilots will help us unveil things that had never been seen before and to create a product that is up to the quality and experience that we have seen in their previous documentaries”

“The close collaboration between all parties and this project with Mediapro and Prime Video will allow its success.”

MediaPro Studio’s CEO Laura Fernandes Espeso said: "The collaboration with Dorna and the support of Amazon Prime Video have been decisive to launch this series.

"We believe it will appeal not only to motorcycling fans, but to all viewers interested in a good story. In this case one of triumph and sacrifice in both sporting and personal terms, which we are making thanks to the unique access that, for the first time, the protagonists of the championship have given to our production team”.

This as-yet unnamed series is due to air in the UK and Europe, and if you’re anything like us, you’ll binge all the episodes as fast as possible and wished they had lasted longer!
