Everything You Need to Know about the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show

It’s that time of year, again! Dry January is over, Valentine’s is around the corner and this weekend is the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show at the London ExCel, one of the most-loved motorcycle events in the UK. From Friday 11th to Sunday 13th February riders will come from far and wide to see the latest debuts and races from around the world, pay homage to the winners of seasons past and add another leather or helmet to the wardrobe.

For those not familiar with MCN London Motorcycle Show we’ve answered some of the most popular questions on the famous fabulous weekend:

Who is Carole Nash?

Carole Nash is a very well-known motorcycle insurance company named for its founder, Carole Nash. In 1985 Carole had been made redundant from her previous job. Armed with her redundancy cheque of £2,500 Carole set up her insurance agency from her kitchen table selling insurance policies to vintage motorcycle owners. The business has since expanded and now covers all types of motorbikes, not just vintage ones! Carole spearheaded the company until 2006 when she decided to step down as CEO but she still represents Carole Nash at events and interviews. What a lady!

How old is the MCN London Motorcycle Show?

MCN began its life at Alexandra Palace, better known as Ally Pally around 1986. Over the years it grew so packed that the event ended up being spread across 9 days! In 2007 it was decided that MCN had outgrown jolly Ally Pally and relocated the ExCel centre at the London Docks, which has been its home ever since. The exhibition space that they gained in moving meant that the event could be reduced from 9 days to 3 over a weekend, making it more palatable for exhibitors and visitors alike.

What happens at the MCN London Motorcycle Show?

Everything! All the major manufacturers across motorcycling take MCN as an opportunity to showcase their latest and greatest. This year the manufacturers that are confirmed to be attending are: BMW, CCM, Ducati, Honda, Indian Motorcycle, Kawasaki, Langen Motorcycles, Lexmoto, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha.

There are a number of racing events and auctions that regularly take place over the weekend. If you’re thinking of travelling to MCN you could amp up your regular ticket to a ‘Paddock’ ticket and be up front and close to the motorcycle racing action!

Can you ride your motorbike to the ExCel?

It would be quite annoying if a motorbike show didn’t cater to its audience! Luckily the ExCel are offering all motorbike riders free parking for the two-wheel beauties, so you can ride into the event, and ride on out again!
